A New Kind of Schedule Slip

Last week we announced that the books would start shipping on the 30th of June.  We’ve been looking that date over for the last week, talking with our distributors and our warehouse and so on to make sure everything is in place for that date to happen. And that’s when we realized something.

We’ve got it all together well enough that we can ship earlier than the 30th! (That’s right; for once, we’ve got a date on the schedule that’s moving in the other direction.)

Accordingly we’re moving our ship date to June 23rd. That should put books in folks’ hands a week earlier — for some people. during the same days that Origins is happening, where the books will be making first contact with the fans. And that feels about right.

That’s great! We’re starting up an Ottawa game (and are about ready to make some Faces for the city), and this’ll go nicely with that.

@Neal, the fruits of some conversations with my warehouse about shipping timeframe feasibilities, and the printer being very on the ball in terms of getting the product where it needed to be.

Are they being distributed by the Knights Of The Cross “Just When You Need Them” Delivery Service?

We’re gonna try to use UPS on as many of the domestic ones as we can manage.

  19. June 17th, 2010 at 12:16 | #19

    Wow….you guys ROCK!

  20. June 18th, 2010 at 08:31 | #20

So there will be tracking info on domestic shipments? My son is getting the summer blahs pretty bad and and bugging me about it. Like only a kid with Asperger’s can bug someone… B-)

@Scott, we’re hoping to have it, but I can’t be sure how quickly we’ll be able to provide it. It’s manual entry on over 1600 orders at this point, and I’m the one who’d be doing that — while off at a convention managing the release of the game. So you may find yourself getting tracking information a few days after the books have shipped.

  22. June 18th, 2010 at 12:18 | #22

Well ok. I would’ve thought there would be a connection between ordering database and shipping database… Manual entry, now that bites.

    June 18th, 2010 at 12:19 | #23

@Scott, the warehouse gets a spreadsheet and works the spreadsheet. The spreadsheet gets sent back to us with tracking information filled out, eventually, but that may be at the end of the whole ship-out process. THEN data entry commences.

  24. June 18th, 2010 at 12:23 | #24

Please add a wink or smiley face (your preference) after the “Well ok.” Don’t want to sound unappreciative, cause I’ve done that sort of distribution work and it’s no fun, no fun at all. Thanks for all you guys do. B-)

My order still shows as “preparing” on the evil hat site. Were all orders going out on the 23rd or did this mean that the books would start shipping on the 23rd and some might not actually get shipped until the 30th?

    =(

Sorry to bug you guys, but have the books shipped yet?

    Thanks,
